The 1st Ever Funky Flamingo
The Funky Flamingo Steering Group did a fantastic job of
organising the night and hardly showed their nerves at all
as the doors opened... what professionals! Chris Butler
went to open the doors and welcome everyone in and
soon the building was filling up.

DJ Scratch (Chris Landers) was on first as people
starting to come in and although it was a bit loud for
some people, everyone started dancing and enjoying
themselves. Next up on the decks was Dj Phoenix (Chris
Butler) who had also been practising hard and had a
great time entertaining the crowd. Then came the Funky
Flamingo Popstars - John Hutchinson went down very
well as he sang his own track and then he was joined on
stage by the other Popstars who did their own fantastic
version of the 'Copacabana' which Darren Moore had
changed the words of to '..at the Funky, Funky
Flamingo...' you get the idea...

After the
Popstars it was the first Open Mic section and
so many people wanted to get up and have a go -
especially to sing Abba!!! Next it was DJ Poptastic (Paul )
- and he really was poptastic... and after Paul had his go
on the decks we had a special guest for you - Sam Dawn
the Dancer. Sam went down very well - the audience
wanted more and more and I have to say she looked
exhausted when she came off stage - but she did say she
wanted to do it again!

Next up was the last Open Mic section and so many
people wanted to have a go that we had to turn some of
them away - it's always a good idea to put your name
down as soon as you get there to avoid being
disappointed and it seems that everyone wants a turn!
And then, Ladies and Gentlemen, Elvis entered the
building - yes the King himself was on stage crooning to
the ladies and entertaining the gents... Elvis had a great
time and has already been asking if he can perform at the
next club so, Ladies and Gentlemen, although he has
now left the building, he will be back!

So then we were onto the home stretch and DJ SAW
(Simon Wilders) took us up a level with his hard house
and trance (I was surprised he managed to DJ after
running around and comparing all night too!) and last but
not least was DJ Raver who certainly lived up to his name
and although some people had gone home by this time (a
bit late for a 'school night'!) those that were left certainly
'had it large' and danced their socks off! We even had a
hardcore raver on stage with his glowsticks!  So that was
it in a nutshell - the first of many Funky Flamingo Club
nights to come.

I think everyone who was there will agree that it was a
great night and the staff at The Junction were
fantastically helpful. Thanks to everyone who came along
and if you would like to find out about the next club night

The first Funky Flamingo
Club night was held at The
